KOSTET SYSTEM / RADIO ENGINEERING
MRS & SDR Receiver Systems
Complete radio systems where RF performance, diversity reception, DSP, repeater logic, audio, embedded Linux and operational control are engineered as one chain.
A flexible SDR-based multi-receiver and repeater platform developed for real operational radio use rather than laboratory demonstration.
Multi Repeater System (MRS)
MRS demonstrates the practical system-engineering side of Kostet especially well. It combines multiple SDR receiver branches with digital NBFM processing, diversity and maximal-ratio combining concepts, repeater control, configurable audio routing, browser-based supervision, diagnostics and automated deployment on Linux/Raspberry Pi-class platforms.
The goal is not merely to make several receivers work at once. MRS treats the complete operational chain as one system: receiver quality, channel state, DSP behaviour, audio timing, transmitter control, hardware identification, service recovery and maintenance all have to work together predictably.
Multi-receiver diversity / MRC
Multiple receiver branches can contribute according to signal quality rather than relying only on a simple strongest-signal switch. Where appropriate, maximal-ratio combining weights usable branches before demodulation to improve fading resistance and recovered audio quality.
NBFM DSP
Custom narrowband-FM processing gives direct control over channel filtering, discriminator behaviour, squelch, quality estimation, signalling and the interaction between RF quality and repeater logic.
Repeater & audio control
MRS integrates receiver state, PTT/control logic, configurable audio routing and site-specific transmitter interfacing instead of treating these as unrelated external subsystems.
Deployable Linux platform
Hardware detection, stable SDR identification, audio configuration, systemd services, diagnostics, browser supervision and installation automation are part of the engineered product rather than afterthoughts.
Flexible deployment patterns
The same architecture can be adapted to several operational roles: a local diversity repeater with several receiving antennas, a linked repeater node, a distributed voting receiver, or a rack system serving several logical radio channels. The design separates the reusable DSP/control platform from the site-specific RF, audio and PTT configuration.
Beyond MRS
Kostet also develops narrowband and wideband SDR receiver solutions for specialized monitoring and communications applications. Antennas, filtering, gain structure, sampling, demodulation, diversity, audio, timing and operator control are considered together rather than treating the SDR as an isolated USB peripheral.
Receiver architecture
RF front-end choice, sample-rate strategy, IF bandwidth, gain distribution and signal-processing structure are designed around the actual mission rather than generic defaults.
DSP demodulation
NBFM and other demodulation chains can be optimized for bandwidth, noise, distortion, signalling, recording and downstream audio use.
Embedded integration
SDR hardware, audio interfaces, GPIO/control, network services, diagnostics and browser-based operation can be packaged as a maintainable appliance.
Operational robustness
Restart behaviour, device discovery, failure handling, service supervision and reproducible installation are treated as product requirements, not just commissioning tasks.
Engineering rather than configuration
Real receiver and repeater performance is often decided by details such as IF bandwidth, discriminator design, branch alignment, fading statistics, squelch hysteresis, AGC/gain strategy, latency, audio routing and failure recovery. Kostet addresses those interactions as engineering problems across the complete RF-to-operator path.
